4th of July Drinks & Cocktails Recipes

Warm weather, windows down, sunroof open, cold drinks, fireworks stands, and that feeling of hometown pride can only mean one thing: 4th of July is upon us.

Surprise, surprise, the 4th of July is one of our favorite holidays. Who doesn’t love being barefoot with a bbq aroma wafting through the air while sipping something iced?

Whatever Independence Day treats and desserts you’re concocting this summer, serve them up with something cold, refreshing, and of course, patriotic.

Fancy Edible Glitter is a 100% tasteless, textureless, and odorless FDA-approved fine powder for drinks that creates a stunning glittery effect.

On the rocks or with a twist, here are our favorite red, white, and blue alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks we’ll be shaking, stirring, and blending this fourth.

1. PATRIOTIC GIN & TONIC

Put a red, white, and blue spin on a classic cocktail. From gin & tonics and martinis to mojitos, mules, seltzers and more, you can elevate any beverage with a dash of Fancy Edible Glitterand a Fancy Sugar rim.

For a Patriotic Gin & Tonic, rim your glass in agave nectar or honey, then in N-A-S-A Fancy Sugar. Add your drink along with Ruby Red, Diamond White, or Sapphire Blue Edible Glitter(two taps per glass).

Say “salut!” to the easiest Independence Day cocktail there is!

Not into cocktails? Make it a mocktail! Nix the gin and add a squirt of lime to tonic water, or swap the tonic for a flavored seltzer.

Fancy Edible Glitter and Fancy Sugar also pair perfectly with soda, seltzer, tea, kombucha, and more!

You'll Need:
  • Gin
  • Tonic Water
  • Diamond White Edible Glitter
  • Sapphire Blue Edible Glitter

2. THE SINATRA

If you tend to hear “New York, New York” playing on repeat in your head this time of year, you’re not alone.

Second on our list of go-to 4th of July cocktail recipes is The Sinatra: a jazzy combination of sweet and sticky. Accent the rim with Tequila Sunrise Fancy Sugarand two taps of Ruby Red Edible Glitter. Give it a stir, drop in a cherry (or stack a toothpick with several, we won’t tell), and feel patriotic AF.

You'll Need
  • 1 oz juice from a jar of cherries
  • 1/4 oz Luxardo
  • 1 oz vodka
  • Lemon-lime soda
  • Ruby Red Edible Glitter
  • Tequila Sunrise Fancy Sugar

3. WATERMELON SANGRIA

Let us start by saying that yes, this drink does taste better when sipped with Watermelon Sugar playing in the background.

Fill a blender with chopped watermelon and purée until smooth. Strain it through a sieve into a pitcher to remove any remaining seed parts. Add your vodka, orange liquor, and a bottle of dry white wine. Fill a glass with ice and give your Ruby Red Prism Powder two gentle taps before filling with your fourth of July cocktail.

Using a watermelon wedge as a garnish, dip the rind in honey and then in N-A-S-A Fancy Sugarto give the watermelon garnish a finishing touch.

Voilá! A fool-proof patriotic cocktail that’ll delight sippers and slightly-curious-but-mostly-jealous onlookers alike.

You'll Need
  • Fresh watermelon
  • Vodka
  • Orange liquor
  • Dry white wine
  • Ruby Red Edible Glitter
  • N-A-S-A Fancy Sugar

4. WATERMELON FROSÉ

More watermelon, please! (Or strawberries and raspberries, we’re not picky.)

Next on the 4th of July cocktail menu is a wonderfully refreshing Watermelon Frosé. Blend chopped watermelon with a bottle of your favorite rosé, and stir in Rose Quartz Edible Glitter.

Add a green accent to the rim (Pothos Green Melting Candyor frosting will work) and touch up with Emerald Green Edible Glitter. Add ice to glasses and pour in the Watermelon Frosé mixture. Garnish with a slice of watermelon (or any fruit of choice) and call it an Independence Day!

You'll Need

6. CATALINA PRISM COCKTAILS

Sweet-and-savory cocktails are next-level delicious.

First, make your simple syrup. Combine equal parts water and sugar (1 cup of each is a good place to start) in a small saucepan along with the rosemary, thyme, and sage over low heat. Once it boils, let it sit for half an hour before straining into an airtight container and refrigerating until you’re ready to use it.

Mix gin with your rosemary, thyme, and sage simple syrup and sparkling or seltzer water. Adorn with patriotic edible glitter colors and a strawberry garnish.

You'll Need
  • Gin
  • Fresh strawberries
  • Rosemary, thyme, sage simple syrup
